I remember Dawning Realization Month for the NFT people too. Think this is going to take much longer because of how wrapped up the whole economy is in this, but it really feels like it's happening.
Anecdotally on twitter seeing a big shift the last few days from every AI slop account saying every other creative field is “over” and they’re in control now to now posting about how nobody likes them and it’s not fair and they’ll persevere and real artists respect and uplift eachother

Does he know he was canceled… because a new book and comedy special don’t feel very cancelled
When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Louis C.K.’s Next Chapter
In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

Did somebody carve that turkey with a hatchet? If you're going to serve such a bland looking, dessicated meal, at least provide some gravy to help get it down.

I am allowed to fail students for AI use, and I do, and I say I will, repeatedly and emphatically. As a result, I wind up having to fail very few students for AI use.
I read the thread and know why they're not failing the students. They gotta let colleges fail the students for the sake of the curriculum and other students
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

PS not only is @haymarketbooks.org having a sale, did you know they brilliantly bundle a free ebook copy when you buy a book in print?
Y’all I made a mistake. Borrowed this from the library and I’ve already taken pictures of whole passages—and I’m still on the introduction. Guess I’m taking it back and getting my own copy to mark up. Good thing @haymarketbooks.org is having a sale lol

Confirmed: Earlier this morning a photog overheard agents inside the parking garage say “dismissed,” believed to be calling off their planned mass raid.

A source tells me they had planned for *hundreds* of agents to flood Canal St. They got flooded instead.

This coming December marks 25 years that I've lived in Canada. I arrived 24 hours before the first major snowstorm of the year. I literally sat on my luggage, looking out the window and was 50/50 about getting the next available flight back. Glad I didn't.

In Nova Scotia, we're selling off the leftover US booze and using the money to fund food banks. I'm sorry my US friends, love you but you have no idea how stubborn we are on this side of the border. We're not buying your stuff.
Some of the U.S. booze pulled off Liquor Mart shelves last winter was offered to help people struggling with alcohol addiction.

I've been on an anti-consumerism kick for so long, buying secondhand, mending things, just doing without stuff I don't regard as necessary, I'm regularly shocked how much things actually cost. My immersion blender broke last night, in soup season ffs. I've only had it 8 years, and use it constantly
