To all the other circulation library folks out there, have you noticed a steep decline in checkouts for short story collections? I'm talking by single or multiple authors. I'm trying to figure out how to market and recommend these books. I love a good story collection, but patrons are not biting.

I was asked by a patron yesterday to recommend a book without thinking. A book I really loved I wanted people to read. I blurted “Hell Followed With Us” by @ajwhiteauthor.bsky.social. He asked why this book. I told him it was terrifying, real, & full of religious trauma. Everyone needs to read it.

As your average eldritch millenial, I hate talking on the phone. That said, it is still such a huge part of so many aspects of daily life. It is so frustrating how many people have no idea how to conduct a phone conversion and it makes my job very complicated. #referencelibrarian

I may start spending more time over here. I had a wild Monday on the 🧵 app dealing with fragile white men, it has me a bit on edge. Its interesting how I got reprimanded for calling a bigot "dickbag" but he & others could use multiple racial/homophobic slurs without recourse.
