A walk along Ayr Beach this morning. Stood for a while just watching the oystercatchers.

This is the best speech, just from a pure rhetoric perspective - its sophistication and persuasiveness - that I've seen a politician deliver in a good long while. Really recommend watching or reading the whole thing.
A YouTube link for those looking for it. No words.

Some bumper sticker wisdom on the car beside mine in the parking lot this morning. Such simple messaging, and yet… *gestures broadly*

Whatever thoughts about the river have arisen now, they never describe the river at this moment.

The actual state of the river is indescribable.

It is eternally unique, just as it is, now.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

“As a society, we continue to deny the straight line between the minimization of everyday violence against women and the more horrific forms of misogyny that eventually materialize. The groundwork for gender-based violence is laid out daily in a world that allows misogyny to be normalized.”
Gender-based violence is an everyday reality, and it starts with minimizing misogyny
As we highlight 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and the upcoming anniversary of the Montreal massacre, can we take a moment to reflect on all the different forms this violence takes?

Today, we remember the fourteen young women whose lives were stolen at Polytechnique Montréal 36 years ago.

Their names are a solemn reminder of the devastating toll of gender-based violence — and the responsibility that comes with our remembrance.
