If Labour abolish most trials by jury, and a future Reform government then takes us out of the ECHR, we'll end up in an incredibly scary place because we'll be at the whim of a handful of people.

(You could argue "if you're a criminal" but who gets to define what criminality is? Exactly.)

As someone trained in virology, I always thought it strange that during the pandemic, the regular BBC Scotland commentator on *epidemiology & public health* was a long-retired *bacteriologist* who had also been a vocal unionist & independence critic & ex vice-chair of broadcasting body advising BBC.
