When politicians rewrite the rules mid-game, you know they're worried.
Elections Alberta has issued a press release confirming that with the entry into force of Bill 14, Corb Lund's "no coal" legislative initiative is now dead and must be re-filed.

More rule changes designed to derail the efforts of those who oppose coal mining on the eastern slopes.

Serious point: Rubio said Calibri is a "wasteful DEIA program". What's the "A", you ask? Accessibility. Americans with Disabilities Act and Rehabilitation Act. Basic steps to make federal websites, programs, and buildings work for disabled and elderly.

Yes, they're trying to kill those too
Marco Rubio ordered diplomats to return to using Times New Roman font in official communications, calling his predecessor's decision to adopt Calibri a “wasteful” diversity move

The secretary of state called it a "wasteful" diversity move, according to an internal department cable seen by Reuters.

Glad to see people talking about Penn Jillette. The 2024 interview was done by me. I found him to be a refreshingly reflective, self-critical individual who has remained curious and willing to evolve.

This is an excellent counterpoint for campaigning against the far right. They are not patriotic. They represent a hostile foreign interest. Rejecting them would be our declaration of independence.
Donald Trump has launched a crusade to convert European politics to his cause, mobilizing the full force of American diplomacy to promote “patriotic” parties, stamp on migration, destroy “censorship” and save “civilization” from decay.
Watch out Europe, Trump is coming for your elections next
MAGA’s mission to meddle in European politics should terrify Starmer, Macron and Merz. Will any of them fight back?

Been saying this for a year now. After SFFA, the @nytimes ran a story about universities working overtime to recruit men--many of whom had less glittering credentials than women applicants. Wesleyan literally created a football team to recruit more men. We ladies are ready for the meritocracy.

Bill Kristol has gone so far left he's joined us in chastising Hakeem Jeffries for being a morally bankrupt turd. He's gonna be Che in like a week at this rate
I’m kind of new to the Democrats, but I thought we were FOR respecting the legal process, and also that we were AGAINST political corruption. And that it was especially important to hold to these principles at this time.

But I guess there’s some insider memo I didn’t get that would set me straight?

It sucks that professors will have to AI-proof their courses in order to preserve the value of education, but man, someone has to. At this point, it would be nice to see governments actually try to make protecting education easier
Yes, in my classes I've shifted a lot to in-class writing (critical analyses, tests). The one 'take home' assignment I kept is the traditional research paper, but with added elements (including documenting step-by-step how research sources were found) to try to mitigate AI use.
My presumption has been this will all mean a shift to doing everything live (no take home). Is that happening? Impossible?

That said, the question nobody is asking but should, how did the shooter get his guns? What can we do as a country to make gun violence less likely?
