Trump responds, in character, with the collective punishment of all Afghans, whose plight he worsened by selling the government in Kabul out to the Taliban in the last days of his first term.

Dear foreign nationals in war-torn countries, terrorism hot-spots, and amidst our enemies:

If you help the United States, we’ll fuck you over and abandon you. Not the individual servicepeople or intelligence officers — they’ll fight for you. I mean the depraved, soulless leadership of the nation.
So now they’re going to be doing individualized re-review of tens of thousands of Afghan evacuees’ cases on TOP of the re-review of 200,000+ refugees who entered under Biden?

the invasion of Afghanistan is among the most horrific recent chapters of the long history of elite impunity in the US. this coda is grim but fitting - the govt practically explicitly affirming that it should only be Afghans who live with the consequences amid fading public memory of the atrocity
It didn’t even take 6 hours.

Notwithstanding court orders that this is illegal, DHS continues its policy of consciously targeting and shooting at journalists. bsky.app/profile/cing...
From the MN Society for Professional Journalists: St. Paul police shot three photojournalists (MPR, Reuters, Sahan Journal) with "less lethal" munitions during an ICE operation yesterday. One had to go to the hospital. They say they were specifically targeted by St. Paul police.

I’m old enough to remember when republicans hid the cognitive issues of Reagan. I believe the last few years they told him they were shooting a movie where he plays the president, and they gave him “scripts” to read. Republicans have done this before.

A sad irony in Washington, D.C., where West Virginia National Guardsmen were shot today. Six days ago, a court ruled their deployment was illegal, but stayed the order pending appeal. My heart goes out to these public servants and their families. oag.dc.gov/sites/defaul...

Update: The US National Debt has now surpassed $39 trillion. It was $36 trillion when Trump took office earlier this year. Trump’s tariff manipulation has also nearly wiped out entire industries across the United States, countless now unemployed.
The official statement from the MAGA White House as the US hits a rapidly increasing all-time high $38 trillion national debt, is:

“At this moment in time, the ballroom is really the president's main priority.”

The first official confirmation that Noem herself made the decision not to turn the planes around. A couple hundred men were tortured as a result — and soon after, the Supreme Court confirmed that the Trump admin’s Alien Enemies Act process was a total violation of due process.
BREAKING:

“After receiving that legal advice, Secretary Noem directed that the AEA detainees who had been removed from the United States before the Court’s order could be transferred to the custody of El Salvador. “

We can do away with it without a new Supreme Court. Nor do we need a constitutional amendment.

What is an “ultra-processed food”?

Industrial formulations w/ lots of added sugar, fat, salt, flavors, emulsifiers -- ingredients not found in your kitchen. Made for long shelf life, convenience, & to keep customers buying more.
