MAGA Adult Male assaults Texas High School students protesting ICE

It seems pretty clear to me that someone in my building is summoning the Old Gods of Winter. Probably in cahoots with that damn prognosticating groundhog.

The Chomsky that I cut from a propaganda slideshow (for teaching) was from Manufacturing Consent, and I guess that's irony, and/but/so yes, he can be replaced.
General reminder that Foucault (and any number of people) was a better Marxist than Chomsky is so you can pretty easily drop Chomsky from the Works Cited without losing anything.

An unexpected bit of cheer in Silent Night, Deadly Night (2025). (I went in spoiler-free.)

Federal agents were assaulting women: striking them, shoving them to the ground, pepper spraying them.

Alex Pretti acted in solidarity with those women rather than in loyalty to other men who had strength of arms and state power. A betrayal to white supremacist patriarchy he was murdered for.

I did wonder if @sorchanf.bsky.social was confused by her American friends' wild enthusiasm about Teen Vogue, our conviction that that was the peak of being cited as an expert, or if the whole world had long ago turned to them for truth and accuracy. #RIPteenvogue

Heading to #MLA2026, where I'll be dividing my time between "please don't tell me how I can use GenAI in my classes" and Gothic Studies. I'll share details on my collective's AOI & AI teaching session, a list of Gothic and adjacent sessions, and the Gothic Studies forum social event details later.

Oddly, no, but presumably only because we weren't doing conferences yet. 🌑🐺
Was this conference hosted by @plaguedr-richards.bsky.social & the excellent journal of supernatural studies?

My 8th grade besties and I got *matching* generic sports jerseys made at the t-shirt shop at the mall, grey with maroon 88 (our HS graduation year, another thing ruined by effing nzis). If only I'd thought to wear it without pants, I could have been the nerdy but cute slashee in a masterpiece.
Someone needs to revive the 80s trend of women in horror movies wearing generic sports jerseys, thank you

Okay, but credit where it's due, she gave us a pretty dope Cinna-bon mot with "witchcraft bandana."
As usual with this magazine, the author concedes throughout that the point he's making is dumb as hell.

I think I always knew that I was really meant to be an RPG gal, but I've had it confirmed by a six-part series of podcast episodes. What skills or powers does menopause give a character?

How is actively competing for a book prize so that you can publicly and virtuously refuse it different from deliberately talking a class so that you can write an essay using vague religious beliefs in place of evidence so that you can file discrimination charges?

I'm over the (Full) Moon thrilled that @randomhorror9.bsky.social will be covering Puppet Master 3 next week. As a scholar of the series, its engagement with fucking N*zis, and justifying the series' wild inconsistencies, I'll be taking notes through the entire episode. 🔪

🎶 Must be the season of the witch 🎶 The next 3 books in my queue, after @shewolfmanc.bsky.social's Unburied, are How to Kill a Witch, That Very Witch, and The Conjuring of America. The fall of patriarchy is my favorite time of year.
