Netflix has officially announced they're acquiring Warner Bros for $82.7B

• Claims they will continue to release WB films in theaters

• CEO teases that theatrical length for films will likely be shorter because 'long, exclusive windows aren't consumer friendly'

• Deal won't close until Q3 2026

So this essentially means Netflix becomes the most powerful purveyor of what comes through your screens - big or small - on the planet. Huge doesn't cover it.

As a radio guy I always feel the wireless is overlooked in debates about the future of the licence fee. Phil Riley's analysis predicts 'ruinous' consequences if advertising or subscription is the future of BBC funding - in the commercial sector too. Good read.

Very sad news- he created a great Dr Who villain in 'Sil'.

Didn't know he founded Graeae Theatre Company- a friend of mine did some work with them, a brilliant project.
