We've suddenly got a load of new followers (thanks, #booksky). I think it's time for belated introductions.
We are Pete's Press, a hybrid publisher in Regina, SK and named after the late, great Pete the Cat.
We publish fiction, nonfiction, children's books and anthologies.

Also LOTS of small indie presses ship! And some places (in Canada) have prov orgs you can get books from - just as an example, here Sask Books is all SK authors (fiction, non, poetry, kids, everything!!) and we have Pete’s Press in Regina @petespress.bsky.social with cool books.

Something that is easy to forget, in these days of barcode-scanning / auto-adjust pricing on third-party platforms for pennies plus shipping:

Booksellers are not merely people who sell some popular books in a competitive market.
A bookcase near a doorway, through which you can see another bookcase. There are maybe 150 books visible, with very few duplicates; they are shelved fairly tightly, with only one face out. A book open to a page with text about William Caslon, a printer and font creator. The text is actually in Centaur, which was created by Bruce Rogers. This is from Rogers' book about creating Centaur, actually.

Had to do some stock taking in preparation for our Black Cat book sale and the holiday markets coming up.
We've sold out of two titles but the remaining spread is still pretty impressive!

Second and third novels, particularly in series, elevate the sales of first novels as they continue to hook readers. Once a reader decides they love your novel (whichever one they read) they are highly likely to chase down other novels by you. Fans. The real power.
