Re Pluribus:

It’s kinda hard to engage with a show whose main character is so needlessly miserable and kind of dumb. Deeply incurious. Like, no interest in what these others are doing, etc. Solipsistic and self involved.

What am I missing?

This is exactly the kind of thing an LLM is actually useful for.
I would love someone who's good at infographics to go through the Epstein email trove and visualize the following: Who's chatting with Epstein and when; what the most frequent topics of conversation are; how these topics map to the most-read/clicked stories in major U.S. news pubs.

English-gooding accounts for, like, 50 to 75% of whatever career success I've had.
I'm enjoying reading all the people who are surprised by the terrible writing and am like "how do you think I built a career for myself?" You can literally have a stable job by virtue of being someone who knows how to "english-good"

The Castro Theatre was so foundational for my film education, and among my favorite places to just be in San Francisco. This video of the restoration work is making me emotional

Whereas most companies ask themselves "will this provide additional value to our shareholders?"

And stock prices are now largely divorced from actual business performance. Much of the S&P 500's market cap cannot be justified based on sales and reasonable projections of growth.
that's in part because costco feels so old fashioned. the approach generally seems to be, "will this provide additional value to our customers?"

The Littlest Hobo made the small towns of Canada his home.
As he wandered, he helped people and showed it was cool to be brave, loyal and kind.

What's the best way to encourage creators you follow and admire to get off of Substack and onto a platform like Ghost without coming across as a scold? And without being complain-y, but actually helpful?

The Venn diagram of folks who convinced themselves that "cancel culture" is a thing as well is probably a circle.
I think many supposed 'intellectuals' have been weirdly poisoned by social media.
The way all of these people convinced themselves that Mamdani is antisemitic is a subject far more worthy of media examination than any of the ‘groupthink on campuses!’ thinkpieces we’ve been subjected to

So few people understand how the template for Trump started with Reagan.
39 years ago today, news of the government's weapons for hostages deal with Iran broke, later to be known as the Iran-Contra scandal.

President Ronald Reagan technically committed high treason by going around Congress to illegally sell arms to Iran in order to fund the Contras in Nicaragua.

you: ChatGPT is pointless, environmentally damaging, extractive.

me: yes, but it just suggested an *excellent* Negroni variation:

1 oz London Dry
1 oz Campari
½ oz Punt e Mes
½ oz Cocchi Vermouth di Torino
1 barspoon Luxardo maraschino

(I did 1.5oz London Dry, as per Death & Co book)
