Firstly: thank you all for an amazing first full week! Your overwhelming support shows con organizers, panelists, and creators that an online-first festival is not only sustainable when organized equitably, but is something that the worldwide comics community actively wants. Still not convinced? Let's look at some statistics! $1,908.79 USD from our storefront so far is going directly to independent creators! As a volunteer organization run by cartoonists, we only subtract the credit card fee from sales- so far this has been about $30 USD. We do not take any kind of personal salary or stipend and there are no hidden charges! Our goal is to get funds in the hands of cartoonists who need it, not to make ourselves a tidy profit. Our average order is $15.69 USD with 400+ comics sold to 150+ people! Our events have an average 22 attendees in Zoom, with Youtube streams garnering 739 unique viewers and a combined 351 watch hours. Of those unique viewers, 35% (or 258 individuals) are new people who found us through related subjects on YT and not through our social media! This means lots of brand new non-co-op people are learning about comics and our industry. One of our missions has always been to spread knowledge amongst cartoonists and enthusiasts- these numbers prove it's working! This is amazing for our very first year- and it's not too late for you to join in! Be a part of industry history by paying cartoonists what they're owed for their work and by learning more from seasoned professionals each weekend. Re: Qs on signing the Rat Queens omnibus. I was not told my work would be included. I do not agree with it being included because the creator made it known yrs ago he would never let my art be reprinted because he didn't want me to be paid. I confronted him about this while I was homeless. Fuck RQ.

I wish fiction acknowledged this more. For 99.99% of the population "genius" is not something you can just inherently be. It's a practiced skill. You keep abreast with your field. You avoid ossifying. The brilliant mind of two generations ago can be the luddite of tomorrow.

For example, Spider-man. I enjoy stories which do it (reading is different from writing someone) but him being a practical super-genius don't make sense to me. Science isn't a gift you have or not. Keeping up with science is work. The point of Spider-man is that he has to blow stuff off to be a hero
