For decades, my favorite literary quotation has been, "If Nature had been comfortable, mankind would never have invented architecture" (Oscar Wilde).

Today, and for the foreseeable future, I must embrace a new favorite: "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel" (Samuel Johnson).

One other point I didn't make here: Allies like Britain believe the US is carrying out illegal bombings. Who are we effing kidding? Of course its reasonable to think Trump is issuing illegal orders! Why is this being treated as such a controversial suggestion?
Oddly enough, in media coverage of Dems' video warning against carrying out illegal orders, there's very little discussion of *whether it's actually reasonable to fear Trump is giving illegal commands or not.*

The evidence is strong that he is. Media should say so:

The headline ALMOST got me to click on this #NYT opinion piece.

Fortunately, the byline stopped me. I'll bet it was the right decision. Not-reading Maureen Dowd usually works out well for me.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

I don't hate HOAs, but people do, and I think I do understand why.

It takes a lot of really bad behavior to make your #HOA look like the good guy, but this guy in Alexandria, VA, has managed to do it.

I have a neighbor almost as bad as this guy.

America doesn't have enough air traffic controllers.

There is a shortage of qualified pilots that will get worse before it gets better.

But the Secretary of Transportation says it'll get better if we will all just...um...wear Dockers on the plane.

Really, Mr. Klein, this kind of faux callowness just looks ridiculous on a man your age.

“We are disappointed in President Trump,” said Morton Klein, president of the conservative Zionist Organization of America, adding that he should “rethink and retract” his comments.

The follow up here is "does the President want active duty service members following illegal orders?"
Leavitt: "To suggest and encourage that active duty service members defy the chain of command is a very dangerous thing for sitting members of Congress to do. And they should be held accountable. And that's what the president wants to see."

If Donald Trump wants to release the Epstein files, he could just release them, instead of green-lighting the House resolution.

And it's not as if he cares whether he has statutory authority to do a lot of what he's been doing.

But he needs a law for this?
