This is my advice for my friends here on Bluesky.
It's going to be a long four years. Pace yourself.
The troll-presidency is a sad thing to behold. I pity journalists who have to cover it. I haven't turned away or turned news off completely but, intuitively, I must separate the wheat from the chaff. Lord, there's so much chaff! The next 4 years will be little more than a daily barrage of insulting headlines that are an erosion for the soul. The key to being an effective citizen is to know what is in your control to change and not be swayed by the dreck with which you're going to be confronted.

Isn't that a weird way to say that people love their morning coffee and are angry that the prices are rising because of Trump's arbitrary tariffs?
Why try to rationalize and scold millions of us for enjoying it?
No, we don't want "functional" substitutes.
SHEESH!

Democrats: “ Donald Trump is a would be dictator who is using the military to occupy American cities and kidnapping people off the streets, but I’d like to congratulate him on his marvelous peace deal in Gaza.”

WTF is wrong with these people?

Don't forget that OAN worked extensively with Rudy Giuliani and a Russian intelligence asset (Andriy Derkach) to smear Joe Biden during the 2020 campaign.

Tom Bowman has held his Pentagon press pass for 28 years. He says the Pentagon's new media policy makes it impossible to be a journalist, which means finding out what's really going on behind the scenes and not accepting wholesale what any government or administration says.

Shocked, just shocked, that the Young Republicans group chat would be a bunch of Nazism and slurs

POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

This is a really important point.

They want “meme authoritarianism.”

They want rage.

They’re getting frogs & aging hippies.

Not great optics—for them.

But great for us: you build a movement by showing folks that they’re part of an energized and hopeful “us.”

Let’s go!

one of the reasons they're so mad at "no kings" is that they thought they were going to get a different kind of protest. they *want* the black bloc to be out there fighting with the cops. those are the images they've been trying to generate from "go." instead--

MAGA Rage at “No Kings” Boils Over—and It Quickly Backfires on Trump
As Trump allies smear the coming protests, a good writer on MAGA skewers the absurdity of these attacks on large swaths of Americans—and explains why our best recourse will be to turn out in force.

2. I'm sure they're good people, and we can agree that violence is wrong and that respect for listening to others makes room for differences, but let's keep political ideology out of our faith communities. Not every person of Christ-centered faith has (or should have) cookie-cutter political views.

1. My opinion comes from a place of deep and abiding faith, no different from the faith of many who attended this vigil. What purely separates me from them is political ideology. TPUSA is based in political ideology. While they say they wish to bring the faithful together, they divide us, in truth.

I often return to this 1992 essay that Chip Berlet wrote that now, in hindsight, looks incredibly prescient about the dangerously anti-democratic and illiberal energies that were transforming the GOP at that time. Few took their warnings seriously back then. politicalresearch.org/1992/12/01/t...

“No Kings means no paychecks?” Scott, that’s not how government works; that’s how feudalism works. You’re literally arguing for the system we escaped in 1776.
No kings means exactly what America stands for— we don’t serve monarchs or dictators. The people are the power, not one man or family.

Let's face facts. The right wing propaganda machine has brain washed many Americans and they are getting more effective day. They now have CBS, soon CNN, TikTok, Time magazine, WaPo, and many others that they did not have in 2024 when they won the election for Donald Trump. Situation worsening.
