Preserving Worlds is a documentary series about the ways long-running online communities age. Each episode is a travelogue through a different noteworthy virtual world. It's streaming on Means TV, OVID TV, and Docuseek. First episode is on YouTube here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=csoK...

Being tokupilled means going from "wow these effects are pretty corny" to "this is literally the coolest fucking thing I've ever seen in my life".

I found out that you can reuse a decades old calendar if its year’s dates line up with the current year’s, so this year I got a lovely 1998 Xena: Warrior Princess calendar. The way they added show events into it is cracking me up.

also if we're talking about Elephant 6 and being unfairly excised from the canon - i wish more people talked about the first Circulatory System album. RIP to a legend www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZc3...

Xena: Warrior Princess and Animorphs were also like this. The 90's were a great time for the world's campiest philosophy lessons.
Babylon 5 was a show where the characters grappled with serious themes while being written like insane cartoon characters. Someone said "I can make Star Trek the grand epic it deserves to be" and then made Star Trek with the awkward goofiness cranked to 100. Prestige budgets took this from us.

If you liked Preserving Worlds, help out the artist who did all the portrait and UI art with a tip!
Right now I am dealing with seizures, fucked vision, difficulty walking, and I can’t hear out of my left ear. Last one will be fixed soon hopefully but it still stinks! Also I am overdrawn and unemployable. So that is why I am constantly begging. Plz forgive, many thx

lmao no way, they really added a Joxer to Metroid Prime 4. That's unbelievable. No way this guy has Ted Raimi's charisma though.

That cat is the most intelligent pet I’ve ever met. I mean, I haven’t actually seen him do anything intelligent, but he has this aura, like he’s thinking about doing something intelligent.

broken record on this but a similarly great beat for left wing media would be covering arts and culture and not just focusing primarily on politics and current events because there's a massive void there right now
it does seem like there’s a major—though potentially fleeting—opportunity to invest in left-wing media. more than a million people in the most populous city in america just enthusiastically elected a democratic socialist and the world is watching. putting $$ towards left media rn is good business.

I'm a no-budget filmmaker with a dayjob... Every time one of my movies gets a letterboxd review a big hatch opens up in my apartment wall and dispenses one pistachio for me to huddle over.

I never hear anyone talk about this band but this album is so good. Jangle pop + classical guitar is a great combo. They also managed to alchemically produce a Velvet Underground style energy that DOESN'T annoy me (I'm sorry).
