Let me give some insight on this, as a producer in the dub industry who worked with major streamers, who's witnessed first-hand where this push for AI is coming from.
tl;dr: Only CEOs want this. Tell them how much you hate it. Be loud, email, call, @, post. You will kill this.

my friends and i did a SANDWICH BRACKET, randomized seeds, i am incensed that egg salad went out first round, but i think this top 4 is still solid, in the end we landed on

You can absolutely criticize the ways in which SAG-AFTRA behaves in the process of going about that fight.
But they are the only entity leading to genuine, enforceable protections against the threat of AI.

SAG-AFTRA is required to have a framework in place so that it can tackle the legal issue of AI
This wouldn’t be necessary if corporations across the board weren’t careening headlong into AI like a bunch of crash test dummies

That's because if they didn't have an AI clause in place in their contracts, then there would be nothing the union could point to in court when suing companies that run afoul.
(Also, the company would have to get all the old actors' permission first)
