Loves books, music, and watching cycling, ursines and felines. I also have mild cerebral palsy. Ace. (Trans Questioning)

Try to post about what I like, but fail a bit at it. I do tend to like a lot of posts
They/them
Just finished "When We Were Sisters" by Fatimah Asghar and I just loved it. It is a novel about three orphaned siblings who after their father dies, are left to look after themselves

I found how Asghar wrote really compelling, and they wrote a really terrific novel.

He isn't "losing" this money. This is called "paying tax like a responsible citizen and not hiding your money offshore" and we need to start recognising and applauding it.

I was watching 'An Cailin Ciuin' on TH4, and that potato peeler Cait was using just gave me the shivers from past childhood experiences.

So, just to confirm, the BBC can’t keep Robin Ince on the air because his trans allyship brings the organisation into disrepute, but they can keep David Walliams, who performed Nazi salutes at the recording of this very show, on the air despite him being predatory towards women. Cool. Very normal.

I've been reading Disappoint Me between essay stints BTW.

It's Fine. Dust jacket markets it as "bougie domesticity," pretty much you get what it says on the tin. Pretty good humor.

The cover is literally me while reading it lol.

Finished 'The Morningside' by Téa Obreht today, about a girl and her mother, refugees, who are relocated to a crumbling island city as part of repopulation programme

I really liked it

And now Having reached my #Goodreads target, I can now read for Fun (joking.)

News websites need better ad selection than just the autogenerated ones.

So that if you are reading an article on the person in court for a 'romance scam', the ads on the article are not for dodgy dating websites

The hands look like they were based on a zombie apocalypse movie.

Brains.

#Lammy #TrialByJury

A fear of mine is that this would be used to target protesters. It would be a lot easier to get guilty in terms of Palestine Action and other protest groups by judge trial than jury.

I just got used to Thibau Nys in the Belgian champions jersey, now have to remember he's in the world cup leader's jersey

In the cx cyclocross world cup, from what I recall, I think there are only 3 former world cup round winners, alvarado, bakker, and schreiber.

With alvarado just back from injury, and neither bakker or schreiber rewlally favourites, I like the odds of a first time winner.

Finished and loved "Promising Young Women" by Caroline O'Donghue

I really love how engaging she writes. O'Donoghue writing had me laughing out loud, while really caring about Jane's problems and hoping she will be OK.

The women's cyclocross race of Lokeren attracted more viewers locally than the men's race.

The excuse that women's cycling wouldn't be so economically interesting for sponsors is again disproved.

Managers should just learn how to lobby better, because numbers are good

If only, they went with "Anna and the Apocalypse " theme, they'd have both Halloween and Christmas covered

Have the CX X20 rules changed as I was under the understanding that if you finish over 5 minutes back, you are given the 5 minutes loss, the same as dnfs and non-starters

But Tnt Sports commentators are saying Michels lost more time in standings than if he dnfed?

Finished 'Spontaneous Acts' by Yoko Twada, translated by Susan Bernofsky.

Despite being short, it really felt like a heavier read, about a literary researcher in berlin on the work of Paul Celan.

Invited to give a lecture, he struggles with the question "what is your nationality?"

I had a great fall today, lost my balance when getting my scarves, gloves and hats out of storage.

Thankfully, it was broken by the empty boxes, bags, and such I fall onto.
