Water use in California has consistently been well below projections, water saving measures have been extremely effective:
www.livescience.com/planet-earth...
Californians have been using far less water than suppliers estimated — what does this mean for the state?
Flawed assumptions about water demand mean suppliers in California overestimated future demand by an average of 74% over 20 years — positive news for the drought-embattled state.

We have to get rid of Jeffries and Schumer. We have to. It’s unendurable that these men are the most prominent Democrats of the moment. They are two of the most broadly undistinguished men I could imagine in politics, zero fire, zero fight, zero zeal, machine politicians with sinecures.

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

I think about this a lot: the fact that it's "inconceivable" is a HUGE part of the problem. Hey folks: conceive of it. That's the necessary first step. This fascism is in fact happening, and the whole "I can't imagine" part is stopping a lot of progress in overcoming it.
"The Court finds it inconceivable that the Department of Justice, which holds a duty to faithfully execute the
laws of the United States—even those with which it may have disagreement—would repeatedly ignore court orders, while simultaneously prosecuting citizens for breaking the law."

The closing paragraphs say it all. It was Americans choice to elect a man like Trump to lead and represent them.

This is like telling the flight attendant on your way out of the wreckage that you never got your Biscoff.
Despite Trump’s promises, grocery prices are still rising fast. Families can’t afford this… when is he going to get serious about lowering costs?

That headline captures perfectly how many hawks think of military intervention as a sort of game. They couldn't care less how many people suffer and die as a result. Horrid people
Marc Thiessen, everybody, clearly somebody who has learned the historical lessons of American involvement in Iranian regime change.

If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this:

America's problems are solved problems. Just not here.

What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵

This is extraordinary. I can’t think of a single Fed statement this defiant — ever. The Fed works through open consensus building and when it must, quiet, patient resistance. I cannot stress how bad things are that Jay Powell is saying these things out loud.

I think US policing would be greatly improved if police officers only carried weapons in genuinely dangerous situations, like responding to an arrest robbery call, and if police culture reinforced the idea that going out dressed like this without a good reason was contemptible and cowardly.

Again, I'm convinced that the easiest amendment to pass is one that eviscerates unitary-executive theory nonsense:

"Nothing in this Constitution shall be construed to grant the President unenumerated powers derived from monarchical privileges or prerogatives."
Simple amendments that IMO would have a decent chance of getting ratified:
