the fundamental problem of bluesky is that it was never designed with this in mind. ATProto was built for censorship resistance, not community trust and safety.
The team is cooking on some things, including a “zen mode” that can serve as a feature gate for a bundle of settings that turn down the volume on outrage and toxicity.

feels like every time i log on here the community guidelines have changed once again. these will probably be out of date by oct 15
at some point, they should consider going text only to avoid the whole mess. perhaps with alternative apps allowing embedded images (hosted off site) to be displayed?

it's also one of the most realistic police movies in terms of what policing is like (leaving aside the neighbourhood watch element).
A YT channel (called movies with Mikey) said that Hott fuzz is one of the only police movies where the cops actually follow the law. And that's really stuck with me.

it slipped my mind before, but pilot training is internationally regulated, the faa couldn't certify unqualified pilots even if it was explicit US government policy unless they were certifying them for only flying domestically
and this is something that should be obvious after a few seconds thought

it's come a long way from the days when suggesting someone be pushed off their pedestal was considered grounds for a permaban
