Went out and fed folks this morning in downtown Shreveport.
It's bittersweet. Everyone was so kind, and we were able to give out so much, but we had A LOT of people today.
I've been doing this for years now, and I still don't know how to come to terms with the sheer volume of new faces I see.

Not calling this poster out, but we should also stop calling it Mt. Everest. Buncha white dudes slapped that name on in the 1850's. The mountain, and the cultures around it, are a hell of a lot older than that.

🎧 if y'all aren't familiar with Tobe Nwigwe, he's been rumbling around the Houston scene for a few years now. This just dropped on YouTube yesterday, and it's a great introduction to his work.
In the same vein, public access television disappeared in America because so many White Supremacists filled the airwaves with hate, the government decided to shut the whole thing down instead of trying to censor them.

John and Paul wrote A LOT of songs named after women. Lovely Rita, Michelle My Belle, Julia, etc. So when Nirvana sat down to write a Beatles-like song, the end result was named 'About A Girl". Kurt loved the Beatles.

As someone who is this guy's age I can tell you 100% that if you were into Pixies, Nirvana, 120 Minutes stuff, etc. but didn't like the Beatles you had to have worked hard to contort yourself into that special little box. Could someone smarter than me explain what these are referencing? I mean, I'm pretty reasonably assuming that silk song is referencing metal gear, but I don't think this motif spring fully formed from the mind of Video Kojima.
