no, it's choosing not to experience vicarious trauma. it is an act of self-care. let mental health folks give guidance on this; they know something about what constant exposure to other people's trauma can do to you.
avoiding the video out of fear that it’ll make you feel bad is choosing to be numb. you’re making excuses for keeping an emotional distance between yourself and the event.

DRAFTED! Rounding down it's about 53k words over 14 chapters. I really enjoyed writing it; part of me wants to proceed to a direct sequel, but realistically I should polish it up and see how mecha and yuri fans react to it first.
I've got one chapter left of my mech fic. Then I'll have a first draft. I should, theoretically, finish this tomorrow. 🤔
After that I should reread and edit, but I'll probably move on to writing something else, since that's the fun part.
