Maura Healey is defending the contract as specific to the prison's system — enforcement 'the right way'.

Note that Abigail Spanberger specifically just ended her state's 287(g) contracts, *including* the one with the prison system.

NEW: Of all the states that voted for Harris over Trump in 2024, there's only one where a Dem governor is overseeing an ICE's 287(g) program:

Massachusetts.

Other blue states have quit, or even outright banned it. My colleague on what's happening: boltsmag.org/massachusett...

As part of a 287(g) contract between state officials and ICE, Massachusetts continues to release prisoners into deportation—even as state lawmakers look to ban other forms of ICE collaboration.

any legit psych you talk to about ADHD will start off by asking you about your diet and sleep habits. The reward thing is interesting but not totally unexpected, because ADHD isn't about lack of attention so much as being almost fatally repulsed by boring tasks.
Because when I start a patient on Adderall I don't bother to ask about their sleeping habits. It's how we get more of those sweet pharma kickbacks. Jay might know this if he actually took care of patients.

Crucially, many local governments are furious with ICE over these purchases, because they were not consulted or even told. Because they are federal property now, it's taking a commercial property off the tax rolls while likely imposing dramatic additional infrastructure costs.

Once again Trump helps Big Pharma while masquerading as a consumer crusader. His phony scheme offers no legal protections—letting the price gougers themselves determine prices and coverage. He targets only a few drugs, many of which already have cheaper generic alternatives.

ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps.

If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...

I hear from people who are surprised I'm still talking about ICE, they thought they'd withdrawn from MN.

No, they have not. In some respects they've escalated.

Some asked why MN is a target. Are there are there a lot more illegals or criminals here?

No, it's not about that. It's about a grudge.

I talked w/ uniformed health workers about their deployments to prisons where ICE holds immigrants.

ICE's operation is especially secretive at Guantanamo -- the place where America flouted its own rules to torture detainees post 9/11.

I've been to some countries where people live under military rule or autocracy. And without fail, one of the questions I get when they ask about life in the U.S. is whether it's true that Americans just let homeless people die on the street.
During freezing temperatures in Port Arthur, Texas, a 61-year-old homeless man was found dead in his wheelchair outside a convenience store.

He was wearing a hospital gown and no shoes. Authorities say he had been released from a hospital the previous day.

This is a diseased society.
