From Evan: it's a huge night of hope for the trans community. The Republicans went all in on anti-trans ads in multiple races and so far there's no sign it got them anything.

Perhaps the page can be turned on blaming us for Harris' loss last year.

Or anything, really. Passing your grading off to AI is simply deciding that your students’ work isn’t worth engaging with. And if that’s how you feel, why on Earth are you in a classroom?
I strongly urge everyone to not just read this warning from @marcwatkins.bsky.social, but heed it, and be vocal and forceful pushing back against using AI to grade student writing. This must be anathema if we're going to have a world where learning means something. substack.com/inbox/post/1...

I suspect everyone screeching in horror about this new Wuthering Heights trailer is giving Emerald Fennel exactly what she wants.

Again, if you are not using generative AI tools as as your research analyst, red-teamer of your ideas and as an editor of your writing, you are badly missing out. The generative AI models are getting better by the month.

I heard a podcaster saying ChatGPT gave her a meal plan which included Zoodles and Ezekiel bread. Congratulations on discovering diet culture of the aughts I guess.
People think they have amazing stories about ChatGPT. And they tell them all the time. You just don’t register them as amazing if you are a normal ish adult human being because it’s mid shit like, “it told me to eat brisket!” or “it wrote twenty emails no one wants!”
I’ve never had someone in real life tell me how amazing ChatGPT has been for them with a concrete example but I’m hearing more and more stories of people’s lives being significantly disrupted by it in a bad way (ex from this morning: a friend of a friend’s dad is “dating” ChatGPT)

As a postcolonial studies person who read Mahmoud Mamdani in grad school and a film dork with Monsoon Wedding in her Letterboxd top four, this Zohran win is very big for me personally. And also for NYC I suppose.

Really struggling as a Philadelphian with how much @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social makes me appreciate New York.
On Friday night, we walked the length of Manhattan, from Inwood Hill to Battery Park.

New Yorkers deserve a Mayor they can see, hear, even yell at. The city is in the streets.
