You have to keep giving money to avoid collapse and if there’s collapse you have to give more money. It’s called the free market.

Just a jaw-dropping paragraph in Trevor Phillips's column for The Times.

This is a policy that, by his own account, has left parents of a particular race too frightened to walk their children to school.

And that's the example he chooses of the "vigour" we "need".

Absolutely astonished to hear the Sky Sports pundits to agree that even a light slap by Gueye is a clear red.

I'm old enough to remember when Bruno G v Arsenal was a clear yellow at best.

Do you stand or sit to wipe your bum?

The question has been doing the rounds on podcasts and social media, and now YouGov has the answer:

Stand: 34%
Sit: 57%

This has lost me thousands of pounds (not to mention book sales) and put me in a state of terror and panic. I urge anyone thinking of moving their list from Substack, or wanting to know more about how Substack works, to read it....
I'm not going back to Substack. I will continue to post my newsletters from Ghost. But I did have to get back in there, just to post this and let people who thought I'd vanished know about this utter nightmare: substack.com/home/post/p-...
An Explanation (Which I Would Be Very Grateful If You Took The Time To Read)

Most of the public know what’s going on with flags on lamp posts.

Crucially for the government, 78% of its 2024 voters think anti-minority sentiment is involved in flying England flags (versus just 15% who think it’s just a national pride thing).

They are getting the politics of this all wrong.
Why do people think England flags have been raised on lampposts?

White adults
National pride: 26%
Anti-migrant/minority sentiment: 49%
Both: 19%

Ethnic minority adults
National pride: 15%
Anti-migrant/minority sentiment: 55%
Both: 20%

@ijohnnycochrane.bsky.social got back last night from a gig where I had a few jars, fell asleep listening to the spurs BTW, then had a dream where I was in a dorm with 20 other angry people trying to sleep and no matter what I did I couldn’t turn off the AOP it kept coming out of strange objects 😂

Worryingly, this is how a small number of insanely powerful humans actually think. They are a genuine threat to us all, and any reasonable political/economic system should prevent them from existing.
