President Trump threatens a military attack on Nigeria because of jihadi attacks on Christians — which are indeed a real problem. But Trump’s aid cuts are killing far, far more Nigerian Christians than jihadis are. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/08/o...

If SNAP math is hurting your brain today, this is shows why USDA's 50% cut to maximum SNAP benefits translates into a much deeper cut to average benefits.

Only households receiving the maximum benefit will see a 50% cut under USDA's plan – and everyone else gets cut more deeply.
So the range of outcomes is
- 50 percent of benefits
- less than 50 percent of benefits
- no benefits at all

Did you know that we allow child marriage in the US? We do, in 34 states, and four or five children are being married every day on average. I once met a Floridian married at 11 to her rapist. And California has no minimum age at all for marriage: www.nytimes.com/2025/11/01/o...

So eight U.S. citizen children have had their lives upended, because ICE rushed to deport their mom -- after she alleged that an agent had demanded sexual favors from her.
We would be a better country if we instead deported ICE agents who exploit detainees.
Mother of 8 charges sexual abuse by ICE—she was deported very next day.

Agent engaged in "severe sexual harassment" and demanded "sexual favors."

After her story aired on television Thursday night—she was deported on Friday morning.

Reyna Mendoza is the mother of 8 children—all U.S. citizens.

My column argues that Trump bungled his trade war with China, leaving Xi Jinping in a stronger position. I worry that Xi, sensing our weakness and vulnerability on rare earths, will push the US and others to compromise on Taiwan, human rights and other issues.

Thanks, Senator @booker.senate.gov, for speaking up about the UAE-backed atrocities in Sudan.
There are alarming reports that the RSF is committing atrocities against civilians, including mass executions, in El Fasher and cities in North Kordofan, Sudan. The RSF must stop these attacks, allow humanitarian access, and ensure safe passage of civilians out of El Fasher.
Paramilitary massacres unfolding in Sudan’s Darfur, videos show
RSF paramilitary fighters are carrying out mass ethnic killings in the recently captured city of El Fashir, according to videos, aerial images and interviews.

The UAE owns the slaughter now unfolding in El Fasher, Sudan, because it has armed the RSF militia committing the atrocities. Both the Biden and Trump administrations refused to hold the UAE accountable; bravo to the members of Congress who have stepped up.
The UAE needs to be held accountable for its arming of the genocidal RSF. That's why I have introduced my Stand Up for Sudan Act that would block sales to the UAE until they stop sending weapons to the RSF.
