Rolled up to this intersection with Mom recently. Unprompted she says: I see so many drivers going right on red here. 😬

BAN RIGHT ON RED

(Was just listening to the latest @thewaroncars.bsky.social podcast about rampant and dangerous right on red in California)
"I made a mistake", says driver who knowingly goes through a red light during the pedestrian phase and honks (with illegal plate cover, to boot).

But I'm sure he once saw a biker roll through a stop sign, so we're even I guess.

TFW you're asked to QA an analytics Jira ticket you knew nothing about and you realize the ticket description was generated by AI.

Sometimes you close your 90% complete Jira ticket before daily stand up because you just do not want to be asked about it again. #LastDayOfSprint

Helluva read. Damn.

“Which means if you measured income inadequacy today the way Orshansky measured it in 1963, the threshold for a family of four wouldn’t be $31,200.

It would be somewhere between $130,000 and $150,000.”

Time flies! Thought the feta cheese with a use by Feb 2023 that we bought at Costco in 2022 would still be good. Hahaha. Time for a fridge review, clearly.

"The terrain model isn’t new, it’s the ancient, time-tested model of health. Germ theory, on the other hand, was never actually proven... the rise of germ theory was as much about politics and profit as it was about science."

Angus Fletcher tells Russ Roberts how we've misdefined intelligence, equating it with data--driven reasoning in place of what he calls "primal intelligence"--the uniquely human ability to think and plan in situations with incomplete information. Great!

Drivers are on their phones so often that I really think we should just include texting as part of the practical driving exam.
We’ve 100% lost the war on using phones while driving and it’s the worst.

How lucky are the line of drivers waiting at the light that the truck did not plow into them.
NEW: I don't think this is what Red Bull gives you wings means. The Red Bull truck was coming from S. Kings Highway in Groveton, VA. The other truck was southbound on Rt. 1. No serious injuries. One driver briefly trapped. VDOT video recorded by SafetyVid.org. #traffic #crash #collision #Virginia
