Mario Party contains an obscure "underwhelming victory" scenario. Normally, the winner is celebrated with a special cutscene and declared Superstar. However, if no stars were obtained, no cutscene plays and all the winner gets is text saying "YOU ARE WINNER" before the game ends.

It’s #WIPWednesday! Real talk, I was so excited about a mini rarepair event that I jumped on working on a Byleth/Glenn piece immediately after submitting my interest check.
Not even a minute after the bell rang out at the end of class, Byleth heard a pair of hands slam her table. “Byleth, I challenge you to a spar.” Glenn was ever determined as he always was. It was only the beginning of the Harpstring Moon, and he had challenged her daily. She caught Reus rolling his eyes. “Again? Give it up, Fraldarius. She’s beat you how many times now?” “Only more reason to keep challenging her. So, what do you say, Byleth?” She sighed. “Fine.” The battle ended quickly with Glenn once again on the ground. “I swear, Byleth. One day, I’ll knock you off your feet. Just you wait.” “I may be waiting for a while.” It became a routine for them. Go to class. Go to the training grounds. Glenn loses to Byleth. Occasionally they would break it up with tea or a snack after, but that was more of a recent development.

lrp It’s really sad that *that* is the mindset that will now prevail. Twice this past week I’ve seen people claim ai on things that were made by humans (one of which was from 2018). You wanna know why? Because it wasn’t perfect.

screenshot of a tumblr post from user “wildmansters” The thing that really boils my potatoes about Al in general is that I have been a creative professional for over a decade now and the devil has ALWAYS been in the details. Big and small, I've had single-person businesses rip me to shreds over how their colors turned out on newsprint, and have worked with huge companies with THICK brand guidelines with every detail of their brand identity laid out and enforced with an iron fist. But I guess all of that stuff doesn't matter anymore? Who gives a fuck if this Al generated baby has six fingers, that mom-and-pop shop is still going to use it. That rug from Temu says Happy Thanksgivirg? Oh well haha it's just a silly funny thing now (nevermind that you never would have given a B-grade item from a craft show the same consideration). I don't actually care that the Al Coca-cola ad has a truck that changes size every scene, but I can't help but think about how, if it had been some poor underpaid artist, they would have been laughed out of the building. I don't really know how to put it in a succint way but it just feels all the more obvious how much more grace and flexibility has always been possible but never offered.

Dimitri's head was half-turned toward her, the elegant lines of his face visible even in the pale light of dawn. She studied him carefully, in a way she never could before. He was older than the last time she'd seen him, and yet still unbearably young in death. He would have been a good king in a peaceful world. Byleth had barely known him, but she knew that to be true.
