“We already learned that nonviolence doesn’t work in 2020. The learning got erased. We already learned it in 2014. Erased again. We learned it in 2009. Then lost it. Learned it in 2003. Erased. Learned it in 1991. Gone. Learned it in 1968. Erased. Learned it in 1939. See the pattern?”
Anyone notice how quickly the "No Kings" protest movement brought back all the lies and conspiracy theories of nonviolence that we fully laid to rest in 2020?

On this day 26 years ago, demonstrators blockaded and shut down the summit of the World Trade Organization in Seattle—demonstrating the power of direct action and horizontal, decentralized organizing.

Today, as federal mercenaries attack our communities, we need this reference point more than ever.

This is an insightful but deeply upsetting article about why everyone in the US feels poor, and why the current political situation emerges as a direct result.

Piedmont Environmental Center is asking for folks to submit comment to DEQ opposing their proposed relaxation of regulations surrounding diesel generators powering data centers. They (apparently) want to allow these generators to run more often and/or for longer periods of time, adding to emissions

“When Donald Trump sends troops here, it won’t be Trump vs. Mamdani. It’ll be Trump vs. New York City.”
Brad Lander on Mamdani's Win: "It’s not only on Zohran. It’s on all of us."
In an op-ed for In These Times, Lander writes that in response to looming threats from Donald Trump, "We’ve got to rise to the challenge together—as New Yorkers."
