I was also thinking about doing a thread with all the books I read this year, so maybe I can start that before going to bed.

Okay, let's see.

Books I've read in 2025
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE is warm, cozy, & out today. I hope you love it! 💗

The story: A cranky baker's erroneous obituary brings the woman who got away back into his life--& now he needs to convince her to stay.
The heat level: steamy!
The baked goods: plentiful!

Over the last couple of months I've really focused on cleaning up my feeds and being conscious of who's telling me what on what basis.

One thing I've done consistently is get rid of any journalists and educators who do content that is supposed to go viral without providing sources & facts.

Cock, success & accident

.... You know what, I'm not even going to ask. We'll just let that play out the way it wants to 😂

Since I watched the newest documentary that just kept fueling my hatred, I think that historically speaking Leni Riefenstahl might still be the woman I hate and despise the most. Not only for her actions and lifelong commitment to being a victim, but bc in my mind she stands for so many others.

I'm not sure I can put my feelings in words the right way, but I'm awake so let's try. Going back to the first post, I think it's valid and also noticable at least in the books I've been reading that grief has been a major theme in newer releases. Pandemics haven't, in no genre I read.
Shorter version: people are using cancer in romance backstories because it’s less fraught than using covid: discuss

I hated the school system so much after getting my degree, I went retail full time & volunteered with some refugee aid orgs, later in a youth center - so I could figure shit out. Went from volunteer to full time social work a few years later.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

Officially asking now for author folks (and reader folks) to tell me about the new queer holiday romances coming out this year—I don’t know why I’m having trouble finding them this year, but I am.

Drop 'em here, please.

(Bonus if low-angst; also happy for sapphic—this is not just a dude zone).

Today three of the social workers I'm in a regional kind of work group with have announced that they're leaving. Which for one means three youth centers being closed until somebody new can be hired. It also means about 20 collective years of expertise, experience and competence leaving for good.

Happy Friday! $573 left to raise for this month's bills and it'd be a HUGE relief if we could have them covered before next month's bills come due.

Let's see how close we can get today! Please share this if you see it, that's a big help!

I was just laid off for the second time this year. It's going to be a hard fall and winter. My safety net, as is the case for too many of us especially these days, is the kindness and generosity of friends and strangers. Anything helps.

Why did I wade into a discussion about a bad marketing campaign for a book I don't care about with people I don't know on insta? We'll never know, but I'm regretting the decision. People really do not want to be responsible for their own shit.

Just sending love to all the survivors out there, things are fucking rough atm ♥️

Today was really hard. Not only did I have to appear as a witness at court, but a co-worker also asked me to consult with her on a couple of cases, one of them a complex issue at an alternative youth center. One of the core conflicts started with ppl being drunk and making out.

Amidst basically everything else, this country is having a wild discussion about soccer games, hooligans and ultras, safety, policing and costs and I'm not going to lie... I'm swinging from wildly angry to almost but not really indifferent constantly. Although angry mostly wins.

Ok, I might have had the third or fourth video on my TL of what seems to be young women wondering why hockey romance is so popular everywhere these days and which they popped off and why not other sports? I'm tempted to comment under all of them.

Racism. That's why they popped off. Racism.

In other news I got really mad at the bookstore today. After I went and saw Mr M in his shiny new shop (opening day went great, btw) I went by the bookstore. I had a plan what to buy, I looked up the titles before going and calculated what I could get with the budget I had.

And it has been proven over and over and over again that if you use right wing talking points, the only one you are supporting is the original. Always and every fucking time.

Signed, someone living in a German state that's been doing this for ~15 years and now has the Nazi party leading all polls.
I stg this is a tale as old as time. Rather than doing everything they can to fight for and excite their base, they throw us under the bus thinking it will help them get people who will never vote for them anyway. Focusing on their base would win them elections. We're begging them to *want* to win.
This is a straightforward Republican attack line, what the fuck is he doing

Mr M has been doing his new job for a few weeks now & tomorrow is grand opening day for the store he and his team have been racing to finish and get ready all week. I'm excited and nervous for him and also glad that hopefully starting next week i get to see my husband for more than an hour a day.

Listen, I also didn't think I was actually old but when I visited my former youth center, one of the kids I worked with for years showed up with her kid and another one drove up on a motorcycle while a third one told me he'll be 27 this year and I swear my soul left my body for a second. 😂
My husband is officially "children of the kids I taught are in my classes" old and I gotta be real I do not feel like we are that old, but since Donna's elder kiddo is like a year younger than we were when we got engaged, maybe we are in fact that old.

Idek what counts as a woke opinion anymore. But if we're going for the opinions that get me the most WTFs in regular company it's probably abolishing prisons, opening all borders, making it illegal to own more than 1 billion dollars, universal basic income & outlawing the inheritance of companies.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.
