An excellent & very disturbing overview of the scope & scale of domestic surveillance systems deployed in the US 🇺🇸 by @peter.andringa.me @financialtimes.com 👇

Ostensibly for deportation, these can (& likely are) being fine-tuned for deployment on critics of the Trump regime -- a chilling prospect
NEW: We took a deep dive into ICE's data dragnet: the data brokers, biometrics tools, and license plate readers powering Trump's deportation effort. Some of the contracts are for tools previous administrations deemed too intrusive.

An good explainer on something fundamental to understanding Taiwanese politics: it doesn't make much sense to talk about the left or right. I often observe that there is little disagreement about how to govern Taiwan but serious disagreement about its identity.

THIS:
I'm concerned about their focus on new immigrants in this post. Especially the part about undocumented workers. The TPP is a potential right-wing European party in the making. Let's hope they fail miserably in the 2026 city and county elections. So far there's reason to be optimistic about that.

Obscene and farcical.
Yet another absolutely balanced and not at all outrageous statement by the TPP, somehow comparing the DPP government human rights record to the 1979 Kaohsiung Incident.

It’s true there’s now more variation in pro-Beijing parties’ views. But we’re talking about them believing in stuff like ‘gay people should not exist’ at one end and ‘gay people can exist, but have no rights’ at the other. The whole spectrum is cursed, it’s not progress, we must not accept any of it

This is why one should always be a bit wary when Beijing talks about how every country should be allowed to pursue political developments and democracy at their own pace, according to their own needs. It is just another way of saying ‘nope, not doing this democracy stuff’

Government lawyers argued "officials are duty-bound to deport non-citizens on a removal pathway, pointing to a 2003 court ruling that said it was required 'even if it is virtually certain that he or she will be killed'."

The DOJ arrested Americans for smuggling H200 chips because they “determine military AI superiority”… and then, on the same day, legalized H200 exports to China for a 25% cut.

This is self-inflicted strategic disarmament for cash.

If Jensen were to sell H200 to China, some of the allocation for American tech companies will have to go to Chinese tech companies.
