Mark Kelly: "I said something that was pretty simple and non-controversial, and that was that members of the military should follow the law. In response to that, Trump said I should be executed, I should be hanged ... it says a lot more about him than it says about me. I'm not going to be silenced."

Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

answer is great but also it's telling that the guy who's been saying this since day 1 has to answer about whether he's an antisemite for 5 min every interview while the same people grin vacantly at the jewish space lasers lady and call her a brave warrior
WELKER: What is your message to Jewish New Yorkers who feel you won't be tough enough in your response to antisemitism?

MAMDANI: That I am looking forward to being the next mayor and fulfilling the commitment I've made to Jewish New Yorkers to not only protect them but to celebrate and cherish them

“How could this happen? I was so careful! I picked the wrong play... the wrong director... the wrong cast. Where did I go right?”

The film that gave the world the most dangerous song to sing out of context (and a TON of laughs).

This was the first animated film to get nominated at the Oscars for Best Picture (since Best Animated Film wasn't a thing yet).

And in a NUMBER of respects, it is easy to see why. From the stunning animation, the powerful score, to the dedicated performances of the voice cast.

I think the least surprising thing about WICKED: FOR GOOD is it has the flaws and strength of the second act of Wicked. The most surprising thing: Wonderful is now a good number that actually furthers the plot. I break the film down here playbill.com/article/all-...

Honestly, a lot of classic movies from the studio system days were like this. Singin' in the Rain is another good example--you'll never look at "Make 'Em Laugh" the same when you know Donald O'Connor literally collapsed from exhaustion afterwards.
Wizard of Oz deserves its status as a classic piece of cinema but it's also so wild that every story from its production is like, "The producers decided to use face paint that was laced with benzos and ground up copper which kept the actor from being able to breathe during filming"

Discourse on Wicked pt. 2 will be forthcoming (stay tuned) but for now: slow to start and a bit clunky and awkward in places, but Erivo and Grande carry the film, Bailey is SMOKING and John M. Chu still does musicals on film very, very well.

Having the Coast Guard, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, decide that a swastika isn’t really a symbol of hate? That makes me, an American Jew, feel pretty damn unsafe.

The "But did he MEAN it?" talk about Trump drives me mad. I'm sure the question of whether he is an actual murderous dictator or merely a paranoid rageaholic screaming into TruthSocial will make for a good "Interesting Times with Ross Douthat" or ten, but both are disqualifying, so why split hairs?
