Honestly, a lot of classic movies from the studio system days were like this. Singin' in the Rain is another good example--you'll never look at "Make 'Em Laugh" the same when you know Donald O'Connor literally collapsed from exhaustion afterwards.
Wizard of Oz deserves its status as a classic piece of cinema but it's also so wild that every story from its production is like, "The producers decided to use face paint that was laced with benzos and ground up copper which kept the actor from being able to breathe during filming"

Discourse on Wicked pt. 2 will be forthcoming (stay tuned) but for now: slow to start and a bit clunky and awkward in places, but Erivo and Grande carry the film, Bailey is SMOKING and John M. Chu still does musicals on film very, very well.
