The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Then he knocks her phone out of her hand

Since January 1, 2020, prices for goods, services, and labor have increased by 26%. But over the same period, #waleg has only allowed each jurisdiction’s property tax revenues to grow about 5% to 6%, plus the value of new construction.

It’s time to fix this.

Read my latest for the @inlander.com:
Will 2026 be the year Washington allows municipalities to close their local budget deficits by lifting the property tax cap?
At the end of the year, when local governments are adopting their budgets for the coming year, I tend to get touchy about the way local media outlets report on

Shockingly, this bill would have failed were it not for the 3 Democrat defections.
Just now, a national trans healthcare felony ban for youth has passed the US House, with 10 year prison terms.

3 Dems crossed party lines to vote to jail providers.

4 GOP crossed party lines to vote against.

It is not expected to pass the Senate, where Dems hold filibuster power.

Story to come.

The one big donation to Wilson's PAC so far is $75,000 from PROTEC17, the union that represents city employees. As Harrell likes to mention on the campaign trail as an example of his management experience, most city employees ultimately answer to him, and they're backing his opponent.

NEW: After paying for hotel rooms to shelter homeless people, Seattle deliberately left them vacant.

By the end of 2024, taxpayers were spending $4,200 a month per empty room at a time when thousands of residents were without a roof over their heads.
Seattle Spent Millions on Hotel Rooms to Shelter Unhoused People. Then It Stopped Filling Them.
Early last year, the city signed a $2.7 million lease extension to continue using a hotel’s rooms as shelter space. Yet despite committing to pay the rent, the city stopped sending people there.
