This is so computer-generated it has the word "PROMPT" written in multiple places throughout the scene

Just finished 'Hi Honey, I'm Homo!' by the amazing @mattbaume.bsky.social. As a huge fan of his YouTube channel, this felt like the perfect extension of his work and, honestly, was the exact book I needed to read right now.
Book cover with an illustrated old fashioned television set against a purple background. Text reads:
Hi honey, I'm homo!
Sitcoms, specials, and the queering of American Culture

Here's a longer clip with more context, which incredibly makes the whole thing even MORE deranged. I've been in the room with this guy once or twice and this really is how he talks

This was the first thing I thought of! He even did the McRib joke with "what did you have for breakfast"

This seems fake but it's completely real: Audio of Seattle's current Mayor dreaming of a giant computer-simulated Martin Luther King, something the King family has explicitly asked people not to do.
Big thanks to Erica Barnett for being the only reporter in town covering these events so closely!

So how did the voice of Disney's Prince Charming wind up in a not-very-secret affair with the bisexual husband of The Bride of Frankenstein? I've stumbled across some very fun old-Hollywood gossip for this week's Patreon bonus video! Watch now at patreon.com/mattbaume

It should be, but that's not how the city sees it! Here's the response I got when I asked for help keeping keeping cars off paved planting strips, either with barriers or by removing the paving.

Thanks for posting this. Would you mind if I snipped out the AI excerpt and posted a captioned video version (with credit to you & Publicola of course)?

Oh wait — here we go. I don’t know why I thought the Port was doing this work! env.blob.core.windows.net/elliott-bay-...

Looks like red maple, not a native species. Shallow roots are bad for pavement and not especially drought tolerant. I don’t see anything on the project page about the replacements but the Port is usually pretty good about converting old plantings to more locally appropriate species.

For today's livesteam: Horror gays of the 1800s and silent era! We're looking at early queer horror, from chaotic vampire twinks to the first Frankenstein on film. Going live now. twitch.tv/mattbaume

The only public works project Bruce Harrell has successfully executed is digging an endless series of basements into which the bar for expectations can be continually lowered

Seattle's dreadful mayor just suggested we make a computer-generated Dr. Martin Luther King, and of any question he could ask it, THIS was the first thing that came to mind:

"And you could say, Well, Dr. Martin Luther King, I've always wanted to meet you. What was your day like today? What did you have for breakfast? And he comes back and he talks to you. How cool would that be if we have a series of historical figures that we all could agree on, that we respect?"

For today's livestream, we're watching highlights from 1998's GODS AND MONSTERS -- a fictional imagining of the life of FRANKENSTEIN director James Whale. Going live now! twitch.tv/mattbaume

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

I'm on another obscure-media hunt! Do you know where I can get a nice copy of The Road Back from 1937 (or the 1939 reissue, or the 4K reconstruction from 2016)? There's a very blurry version on YouTube but SURELY someone has a cleaner version they can slip me!

There is a FASCINATING new video from @thesamantharei.bsky.social about how media like Hunger Games and Handmaid's Tale use clothing to illustrate creeping fascism. (And, spoiler, it's not just fictional fascists who use clothing to control people.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwJV...

It's honestly impressive how Harrell and his people keep finding ways to alienate queer people
mattbaume.bsky.social
Oh I haven't, gotta track that down!
