I just don't need to know what the Telegraph has written about Dungeons & Dragons. It's a newspaper for people who are frightened of samosas.

“[Eventually] humanities depts will be forced to accept AI-authored assignments, as part of revised university policy to cooperate with these billionaires. It's already happening, and our response needs to be decisive. Because our students' ability to *think* is at stake.”

really important thread ⬇️
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

Let me give some insight on this, as a producer in the dub industry who worked with major streamers, who's witnessed first-hand where this push for AI is coming from.

tl;dr: Only CEOs want this. Tell them how much you hate it. Be loud, email, call, @, post. You will kill this.

🧵⬇️
The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.

damn Sooty
Two splendid historical moments to celebrate today: the 25th anniversary of the news of Sooty the guinea pig’s sexual excesses, and the 1,009th of Edmund ‘Ironside’ II getting done in by being stabbed up the bum while on the privy. Possibly. As you can see, we’re starting with the ‘Romeo’ rodent...

I will be sharing Smol Paul content all day to celebrate his fifth adoptiversary. If you'd like to help us (now a registered charity!) continue our work helping wobbly cats, please contribute, we're going to REALLY need it next year

Donate to Holly's Merry Moggies cat rescue (registered charity number 1215708, woo!)
Thank you for helping us help the disabled, different, and 'difficult' kitties of Nottingham and beyond, often when no one else would. Seeing the difference in a kitty who thought there was no hope ...

5 years ago today, Pandemic Year. It had been a month since I opened my "side project" (lol) cat rescue in the spare room of my flat in London.

I saw an ad for a male kitten with "balance & walking problems" who urgently needed a home. And so it began. HAPPY SMOL PAUL DAY!

It was Downey who coined the phrase in the LEVERAGE writers room “future episodes do not win out over present episodes”. Trust me, you’ll have more ideas. You’ll die full of them.
WRITING TIP, something simple but it catches many of us out: if you have a great/fun idea for your story, *use it now*.

Don’t save your ideas for some nebulous other story you might write tomorrow. I promise you’ll have more.

Break your story’s status quo. Go a step further. Use the big idea.
