Alignment evolution: Waterfall = detailed specs and rigid processes. Agile = shared goals and regular communication. DevOps = shared tools and automated feedback. Progressive Delivery = shared understanding of user needs.

people overcomplicate networking. its mainly around consistency.

-showing up consistently in virtual communities
-consistently liking/commenting on peoples posts
-replying back to email newsletters with thoughtful responses

I've been reading Dan Wang's "Breakneck". It's a fascinating look at modern China, as well as a reflection on the current state of the US (definitely a secondary theme).

His past letters about China were also amazing and you can read them here: danwang.co

If you aren't offering an API or MCP interface for agents, you force users toward a browser solution like github.com/microsoft/pl... which is indistinguishable from real users.

Not good for the user, not good for your site.

Looking at you, LinkedIn. But you're certainly not alone.

Forums are great. Wrote about why they are better than slacks/discords: www.mooreds.com/wordpress/ar... and talked w/@scalingdevtools.bsky.social: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsoX...

This was before real GenAI. Now that LLMs are a major source of traffic, user-generated q&a is even more important

Pro-tip. If ghosting is prevalent, one easy way to stand out is: don't ghost.

That doesn't mean you have to go to all the meetings. All it takes is a message and an apology.
Got up extra early to accommodate a call from someone in the Eastern timezone, and of course they did not call. I feel like ghosting is just endemic now, it really wasn't such a big thing when I was younger.

Wow! If you do this, how do you get anything done?

I can't imagine this.

I don't even install slack on my phone except when going to events.
hanging out with @msbrianaholmes for the last day i have learned she keeps all notifications on her computer and phone on loud. absolutely unhinged behavior.

Are we still doing starter packs?

Put this one together because I love seeing things that lovely folks write on the internet, and I'm sure there are more people to meet and add to this list.

If you are sharing your knowledge on slacks or discords, it's gonna get lost pretty quick, no matter how good it is. Capture that knowledge and put it at a URL so everyone can benefit. I wrote up how I do so here: www.mooreds.com/wordpress/ar...
