Exactly. That’s why United Healthcare is using AI or rather an LLM especially for determining out of network costs. It’s not really about AI.

You mentioned LLMs giving you their reasoning steps, but research shows that the reported reasoning steps don't reflect what the LLM actually does. Instead, like everything else, it's generated text reflecting a prompt, and as soon as you push them harder it fails.

Begs the question: could use of LLMs strengthen ppl’s thinking in the long run? I don’t plan to find out by outsourcing my thinking to software, but I have the luxury of not having an employer or educational institution to push an LLM on me.
