These are murders on the high seas. Trump may have ‘immunity’ here, but none of his minions do. And none of them have immunity from international courts, in spite of their claims. Nothing says acknowledgment of guilt like making up justification for criminality.

if the dems cave now with nothing to show for it then all of the misery the shutdown has caused instantly becomes all their fault as it achieved nothing

Both the authority and the imperative, as Toby Ziegler says
Beshear: Let me be clear. The president has both the funding and the authority to fund snap during a shutdown. In fact, every other president in every other shutdown has done so. People going hungry in this instance is a choice that this president has made.

"'They’re spending more money than I would even tax them,' [Mamdani] said in an interview with MSNBC last week."

This is the message. Make it clear that these billionaires aren't just worried about losing money. They're worried about losing the ability to exchange their money for power.

our neighbors are our caregivers: our teachers, our home health aides, our chefs, our deliverers, our builders, our nannies, our beautifiers - everyone who works to take care.

and our neighbors are organizing because we HATE this attack on community fabric.
this morning, ICE went into a Spanish language immersion daycare and took a teacher from the building in front of screaming and crying kids and parents at dropoff and the daycare had to shut down for the day (near Lane Tech, where they were yesterday). Really hoping today's "theme" is not "daycare."

The Barstool Sports Guy spends 183 days a year in FL to get out of paying taxes in NY
It is gonna be so funny watching the NYC bajillionaires scramble to get appointments with Mayor Mamdani after they all insisted they were gonna move to Florida if he won. First of all, most of you already have places in FL and claim it as your primary resident so you don’t have to pay NYC taxes

Every American’s blood should boil at the very idea T and his supporters are trying to shred the constitution and “try” for a third term. Every elected Republican needs to condemn this immediately or resign from office.

starving over 40 million people right before major holidays + massively upping healthcare costs does strike me as a rather bold move this early in the authoritarian consolidation game for any given fascist regime, but I guess we’ll see what happens

I get the political urgency for a reboot of the Democratic brand for more media-savvy leadership. But a lot is built around their disastrous defeat in the 2024 elections. There is a danger of generalizing about an anomalous post-covid anti-incumbency year when the defeat was actually fairly narrow.

Monsters.
can you imagine being sent to a country you never have been to before and be incarcerated with no charges? That is what the USA is doing to people.
A Cuban man deported by the U.S. to the African nation of Eswatini is on a hunger strike at a maximum-security prison having been held there for more than three months without being charged or having access to legal counsel under the Trump administration’s third-country program.
