I want a large house with a large yard in walking distance to all the great urban amenities, good schools, safe streets, and I don’t want it to cost a lot
Of course they are, but also, many people just want A LARGE PRIVATE STRUCTURE WITH A YARD, regardless of location, infrastructure, and amenities. That preference is a very significant part of what they’re looking for and they will try to find it - even in far-flung spots if necessary.

When you complete Gymnasium you take the Abitur to qualify for University.
The system has its advantages but idk if it would ever work in the US.

A lot of education discourse is at root an inability to decide whether the purpose of our education system is to 1) teach material and measure learning 2) reward students who work hard 3) separate the smart kids (destined for smart guy jobs) from the dumb kids (destined to serve the smart guys)
