#CDFriday bait for the ages: I, a 38-year-old father obsessed with session players and white boy grooves, have nonetheless not really bothered to delve into this catalogue. But this price was impossible to pass up!

Contributed to this @allmusic.com piece about albums we wish we’d discovered earlier, which, as a reissue/box set guy, is a rich topic for me
Late To the Party - Albums You Wish You'd Discovered Earlier
Kicking yourself. That's usually the feeling. When you finally sit down with an album that changes your life, you think "Why wasn't I listening to this the whole time?" So many…

Why are multiple brands utilizing ads with the live-action design of The Grinch, which I thought everyone universally agreed was ugly as sin in 2000

The Museum of the Moving Image has an aged but very neat production-used model of E.T. on loan in its collection and I have seen the same person screaming about how it’s not actually production used and everyone who believes this is an idiot etc. Every kinda discourse is sinking, huh

Also, I’m going to go out on a limb and say there are very few parts of the country that don’t have a solid local pizza option instead? My hometown, north of 20,000 people, has at least four

Inspired by @missmollymary.bsky.social: if you have kids, what's the wildest song they've enjoyed? My girls go nuts for this unsanctioned 1983 12" of the song from Jabba's palace, sung by John Williams' son Joseph (later of Toto/The Lion King fame) and featuring bits of other Star Wars themes

This piece makes some good points that are not at all backed up by the final film, in which none of Bruce’s bandmates have lines and his manager exists to do Wikipedia citations and documentary talking head outtakes
'Deliver Me From Nowhere' Is Wildly Misunderstood—By Both Critics and Audiences
The Bruce Springsteen biopic was meant to kickstart a long Oscar campaign for Jeremy Allen White. It hasn't, because everyone is missing what actually makes the film about 'Nebraska' great.

I would flick Matty in the Adam’s apple if I ever saw him
"I still think environmentalism is basically bad" is just his old "sweatshop workers should have the freedom to die making my clothes" shtick but applied to climate change. So Red the Rose, reissued with bonus remixes and a DVD in 2010, goes for high prices on the secondary market. With The Power Station (the OTHER Duran side quest of ‘85) getting reissued in December, let’s hope this one gets another look; it’s worth the rediscovery!
