Aw, the mouth pipette technique that some of us were taught early on in our careers.
As a postdoc, my PhD advisor got gingivitis after using that technique to transfer spirochete cultures. That was all I needed to hear to never try it again.

Saw this photo of Adah Elizabeth Verder (1900-1997) in another post, accompanied by comments on mouth pipeting. When I took intro microbiology in 1979, one of the first lessons in lab was mouth pipeting technique. Pay attention, and it was the most accurate, fastest method available.
