O'DONNELL: Why did you pardon Changpeng Zhao?

TRUMP: Are you ready? I don't know who he is

O'DONNELL: His crypto exchange Binance helped facilitate a $2b purchase of World Liberty Financial's stablecoin. And they you pardoned him.

TRUMP: Here's the thing -- I know nothing about it

I'm taken by the idea that many uses of generative AI don't make work faster, they merely move the work to other people and systems, or generate new steps, steps that have perhaps not been figured out yet, or even conceived as necessary.

It started as the controller area network bus for vehicles but it had ambitions and became so much more.

CppNorth remembers and honors our dear friend Rainer Grimm, a cherished speaker and pillar of the C++ community.

This year, we were honored to have his advocate Cippi carry his spirit forward.

Revisit his impactful 2022 talk:

Apparently, it's bad luck to mention a "MacBook" in a software company. You have to call it "the Scottish laptop".

Trump doesn't seem to see that some people are still immune to his threats.

Jack White criticized Trump's Oval Office decor. The White House then called White a "washed-up, has-been loser... masquerading as a real artist." And White, undeterred, posted an absolutely blistering takedown in response.

Teaching Simon about CRTP. "Back in the 90's Jim Coplien noticed this pattern that kept showing up. He coined it CRTP: Curiously Reoccurring Template Pattern."

Simon: "They definitely did shrooms. Nobody writes like Lewis Carroll without some help."

1. Get a bunch of parts
2. Think of something to build
3. Build the thing / write the code
4. (I think this is where we make slides)
5. Give the conference talk

Unpopular opinion: When coroutines were added to C++, every library example and conference talk slide used them for illustration. Now we have to wade through the coroutine cruft to understand the actual concepts. Authors seem to think this is a flex. Stop using coroutines when not needed.

People living under fascism didn’t survive by giving up joy—they protected it.

They held onto the things fascism tried to erase: art, friendship, jokes, rituals, language, memory.

Not as escapism but as resistance. As proof they were still human.

Joy isn’t frivolous under fascism. It’s strategic.
