Reposting for anyone in any way troubled that Chris Evans is returning to the Avengers films despite other, newer Captain Americas being available. He seems to be a nice bloke and if anyone wants to pay him to look good that's okay.
"I have never seen the film, but by all accounts it was terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific."

Anyway. Time for my annual (Starfleet approved) AMA.

I am Lieutenant Commander Bull. I'm half-Caitian, and am Chief Shuttle Officer on board the USS Enterprise (NCC 1701-E).

Ask me whatever you like about serving in Starfleet. If it won't break regs I'll answer.

Nice one, for those who don’t carry a Swiss Army knife whose file can unlock a trolley.
And for those with 3d printers, here’s a chance to give back to the community.

I count myself fortunate to have seen it on its first, and I believe only, airing. Presumably it’s stuck in Copyright Hell somewhere.
YES IT IS BRILLIANT
The jury is still out - and that's being generous- on whether Love Actually is a Christmas Film, but there's another seasonal Richard Curtis effort that's absolutely *brilliant* but you never, ever see anywhere now - Bernard And The Genie.

Had we but falcons enough, and time,
This widening gyre would be no crime.
Yet the blood-dimmed tide shall flow,
Vaster than empires, far less slow.
And if the center cannot hold—
Well then, lady, let’s be bold!

Happy Midwinter season to all who love, collect, & sing strange, old, & obscure carols.

That’s lots of you, right?

I heard the intro to one of these & my brain started singing the other, so I did this. It works better in human voices than on paper!

UK is VERY familiar with this song this time of year, but not sure the rest of the world is as aware of the greatest Christmas track of all time…

My first job was designing parts of over the horizon radar systems; this is categorically untrue. Windfarms are static objects that can easily be mapped out using signal processing. Your radar software is looking for fast moving objects and so even the spinning turbines would be ignored.
Burgum: "Today we're sending notifications to the 5 large offshore wind projects that are under construction that their leases will be suspended due to national security concerns ... the Dept of War has come back conclusively that these large offshore wind programs create radar interference"

Finished reading Supergirl:Woman of Tomorrow last night. WOW. Gorgeous art and amazing storytelling. What a beautiful dive into Kara Zor-El. I don't know how they will draw from it for the potential new movie but if they can keep this young woman with a heart the size of the Universe, I am in.

This is a mostly comic book with some surprisingly-deep aspects. The ending reminded me of Brin's Earth, and I had to have it explained to me, at which point I understood why. I love the codas most. This book is a *great* companion to the movie Galaxy Quest. Also, it made the Puppies really ad.
