Don Lemon is not the only reporter who was arrested by federal agents overnight — local independent journalist Georgia Fort just went live on FB to say federal agents were also at her door to take her into custody over her protest coverage in Minneapolis.

Truly a 1-of-1 writer and a 1-of-1 Philadelphian.
I know I’m a homer but this was the most quintessentially McQuade story. Perfect idea, perfect execution. Dan was the only person on Earth who could’ve written this.

The idea that AOC engages exclusively in left-wing cultural issues that have no salience for the average American worker is just wrong. She's all bread and butter all the time.

Retroactively pushing the narrative that a police brutality victim somehow deserved to die is one of the most disgusting traditions in American journalism
More than a week before federal agents killed Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, different agents pushed him to the ground after he spit at them and broke a taillight on their SUV, according to newly unearthed videos. Watch here.

This judge lays out exactly what people mean when we talk about ICE is not a legitimate law enforcement operation. No amount of training will reform an agency that holds such competing contempt for the law. ICE needs to be dismantled.
An extraordinary document. Read it.

“Attached to this order is an appendix that identifies 96 court orders that ICE has violated in 74 cases. … ICE has likely violated more court orders in January 2026 than some federal agencies have violated in their entire existence.”

I paid my therapist a zillion dollars to tell me this, so I’m passing it on to anyone else in MN who needs to hear it:

Think of taking time away to recharge not as not doing the work, but as doing quality control for the work. You’re not going to be able to show up to do it well if you’re depleted

On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the six million Jewish people murdered by the Nazis, as well as countless other victims.

We honor their lives by rejecting the evils of antisemitism, dehumanization, and authoritarian violence wherever they appear.

Never again means never again for anyone.

This dumb argument comes up like every 4 months and it will still be true next time. If you don't already have a security plan or specific needs Signal is going to be a massive improvement.
Of course no one should assume Signal is perfectly secure, and yes, for certain extreme circumstances, you should use no electronic comms.

But for 99.9% of Americans right now? “Signal is just as insecure as other forms of comms” is utterly irresponsible and counterproductive advice.

Keep hounding them. Was it appropriate to extend funds given ICEs actions in Chicago? Was it appropriate given the illegal profiling in LA? They always fucking knew what they were supporting.
im so disgusted by these motherfuckers.

ultimate cowardice is the groveling and claims of ignorance.

they knew what they were doing.

they think they can get away with it.

we wont let them.

I’ve been thinking about open source work that sits between “side project” and “venture-backed startup.” Watching the atproto space has sharpened my thinking around shared, communal infrastructure.

These are some thoughts on why that middle path eroded and what it might take to rebuild it.

I'm at a point where I see outlets like NYT and The Atlantic as essentially organs for Dem elite consent manufacture, so it's notable and good when they seem to realize the federal center won't hold (at least not in its current form).

But they could at least FEIGN some contrition, it would be nice
