For #flowerfriday, here's the Mexican prickly poppy, or Cardo. Beautiful and calm-looking, it's hardly harmless in several ways! This plant, native to Mexico, is now found in many countries.

The bird displays its breeding plumage, featuring a bright yellow-mustard color on its undertail, belly, breast, and around its neck. The upper breast and neck possess light, dark chocolate patches. Its back, wings, and tail exhibit brown tones, while its forehead and front top of the head showcase a coffee-powder brown color.

Vulcanoctopus hydrothermalis is a small octopus that lives around hydrothermal vents. The water around these vents gets very hot, but these octopuses don't sweat it. They can survive in water as hot as 91°C!
