Overcast at the Alykes Salt Pans today in Zakinthos. Greenshank, Black-necked Grebe, Grey Heron and White Wagtail for #BirdsSeenIn2025

Greenshank, Grey Heron, White Wagtail and Black-necked Grebe seen at the Alykes Salt Pans in Zakinthos today. Also saw Little Egret, Chiffchaff, Spotted Flycatcher, House Sparrow, Swallow and Grey Wagtail. I had hoped for more waders and egrets but we were perhaps there too late on the year and missed most of the autumn migration.

Went out for a walk this afternoon in Kalamaki in Zakinthos during a brief break in the clouds and rain. Found this Large Skipper which really isn't supposed to be flying at this time of year. #Savebutterflies

Large Skipper seen today in Kalamaki in Zakinthos. Very late for this species to be flying, usually seen May to August. The 21st species of butterfly I have seen here since 3rd October.

Another great day in Kalamaki in Zakinthos. 14 butterfly species this afternoon before the rain set in. Here Lang's Short-tailed Blue, Robin singing in the rain, Painted Lady and Swallow. #Savebutterflies #BirdsSeenIn2025

This tiny butterfly seen today, Lang's Short-tailed Blue, was in great condition, as was the Painted Lady also featured in this post. The Robin photo was taken during the rain with a dark car behind it making it look as if it was dark.
