Infuriating
One of the stories that makes me the saddest out of this ICE invasion is one out of the Minnesota Star Tribune today about ICE agents eating at a little Mexican restaurant in the small town of Willmar, Minn, —and then, when they were done, arresting some of the workers.

@napalmpodcast.bsky.social finally stopped being lazy and released an episode? Woah! Sure it's old, but at least it's something! Vietnam War movie history at its best

After posting on the White House website just yesterday that Ashli Babbit was "murdered in cold blood," the administration states that the victim of the ICE shooting in Minnesota was justifiably killed as a "domestic terrorist."

This constant economic retort to every law-breaking step the administration makes is beyond old and beyond pathetic. Will ANYONE stand up and meet the moment?
The White House is laser focused on threatening a military takeover of Greenland.

Where’s the same focus on lowering costs?

New Year's night jam is #gratefuldead Hampton 1979. A bit sloppy and certainly not prime Dead, but a fun show with a mega coked-out Eyes of the World

New Year's jam is Hendrix at the Fillmore East, 12/31/69. One of four shows over two days...my dad was at one of them (he can't remember which). Brief Band of Gypsies era featuring his best jamming.

This whole thing is both sad and hilarious
The reason this Harvard history professor decided he was done with one of the best and most privileged jobs in the world was, in his own words, because he was forced to lecture in a mask during peak Covid.

I’m not making this up.

Historically this kind of intervention was, to put it mildly, stupid and counterproductive. Can't envision this going any differently. @nsarchive.bsky.social has tons of great resources on this

Friday night jam is @pearljam.com Vault #4, 5/10/2000. Love Ed's voice in this era, and 2000 could be the tightest the band ever was.

Saturday night jams is the Rolling Stones Bridges to Bremen. A bit low energy compared to others I've heard from this tour (including the show I saw non-humble brag). Still has the indescribable swag that only the Stones possess.

Enjoying Mike Millard's 1975 live recording on the new Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here set. Had this on bootleg cassette ages ago...sounds fantastic (for what it is). Mike recorded some of the best bootlegs ever, including several from the Zeppelin 1977 LA run

It might be easy to find things like this merely petty or superficial, but that would be a mistake. Demeaning, erasing or eliminating celebrations or acknowledgments of Black America is straight from Redemption playbook, and is intended to reinforce the racial hierarchy and signal its reinstatement.

As with the stories about ChatGPT assisted suicide and AI psychosis, universities will do absolutely nothing with this information and continue to push ‘strategic relationships’ with OpenAI
“When participants used ChatGPT to draft essays, brain scans revealed a 47% drop in neural connectivity across regions associated with memory, language, & critical reasoning.

Their brains worked less, but they felt just as engaged—a kind of metacognitive mirage.”🧪
