Why is it that everyone is all about prison abolition until the cell walls are padded?
I’m a pediatric nurse. For some reason people like to ask me about the worse thing I’ve ever seen and then be mad that I ruined the vibe. I won’t share my worse thing here because I’ve just learned to not answer that question.
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

Volunteered at a white flag shelter tonight. Don’t know if I will do that again. The women were great! But the staff… not the most dignified service I’ve volunteered with that’s for sure.

As I always do with boycotts, I urge: be tough with corporations, gentle with individual buyers. For some people, Black Friday sales are the way they get their kids jackets that fit, shoes that hold up to the weather. Yelling at them doesn’t help the cause.

The issue of gender-affirming care for trans minors is just one small slice of a much larger fight: adultism. Bigotry against children worldwide. Millions, possibly billions, of parents who think it’s legitimately impossible for their child to be right about anything - especially when disagreeing.
