Finally convinced the abandoned cat in my neighborhood to come inside after years of feeding her. It was freezing raining last night so I just scooped her up and brought her in. Guys it’s like 20 hrs later and has stoped raining but I don’t think she wants to leave. 😂

There's really no better time/place to enjoy nature than North Carolina in the fall. All the bugs are dead but it's still only light jacket weather.

This is probably the most embarrassing thing I’ve had to confess to a European friend. Well this and that I don’t know how un cut dicks work.
Oh this is going to sound incredibly silly given the gun situation but fireworks are super illegal in my state outside of like certified shows. So we only have like 20 minutes of 4th of July and then maybe you’ll hear some smuggled fire crackers on new years.

Okay this article is almost comical in how it dances around the subject of race.
It is the season to bring your person home for the holidays. But not everyone has a picture-perfect family dynamic, especially when it comes to parents and partners. If you have brought your other half home in the past only to hear passive-aggressive remarks or full-on “I don’t like them, here’s why” monologues from your mom or dad, bringing them back can feel a lot like walking on eggshells. Dealing with this sort of sticky situation (feeling like you have to choose sides between people you love) can be anxiety-inducing. But it doesn’t always have to be! When you are crazy in love with someone, the last thing you want to hear is a list of their flaws, especially from your parents. But sometimes, especially in the honeymoon phase, it might be worth taking a second to listen. “When you’re in that ‘deeply infatuated’ stage with someone, your vision is totally obstructed by your intense feelings of adoration, admiration, and desire, ” says Dr. Suzanne Degges-White, Ph.D., chair and professor of counseling and counselor education at Northern Illinois University. She notes that if your parents have legitimate concerns about your wellbeing or suspect the relationship may be emotionally unhealthy, they might be able to spot the warning signs before you do. Your mom being upset that your boyfriend kept interrupting you at dinner or your dad overhearing him raising his voice at you when you were alone are valid reasons for people grow up in different households, and sometimes a small habit in one home can be a huge deal in another. If your partner grew up never helping clear the table and making their bed, it might horrify your type-A, spotlessly-clean parents. But in a way, this is the best problem to have. “If there’s some little thing that your parents are complaining about that’s an easy fix, you should go ahead and tell your partner, ” Degges-White advises. She says that if you want to spare your partner’s feelings, you can frame with “Now you’re going to know why I complain about my parents, they’re ragging me about ….” or “If you really want to wow them, surprise them tonight and start by clearing the table after dinner. My mom will absolutely adore you!” The real test, then, is if your partner actually listens. If they can’t make the effort to offer help around the house or not chuck their clothes all over the guest room floor, then start questioning what the partnership will be like down the line. If you are home for the holidays and want to avoid spending too much time with them because things always get tense, just plan ahead and set firm limits on how much you will actually see your parents. Pencil in a quick trip nearby, or dinner with your hometown friends, to break up the time spent at your house. If you know you only have to bear the situation for 48 hours or one meal, it can make it a lot easier to get through. There are certain areas where a lot of people have fixed opinions, and if your partner does not fit in with that mould (or vice versa), it can cause uncomfortable debates and, subsequently, a lot of issue Avoid the big four taboo topics, sex, religion, politics, and money, all of these seem to bring out the worst in people when they meet someone whose opinions are directly opposite their own. When a parent tries to maneuver a conversation to these forbidden zones, refuse to go there and change the subject or suggest you and your partner ‘help with dinner, ’ clear the table, or take a walk to get some fresh air. Of course there is a point where people can find it impossible to stomach someone’s beliefs that you deem are very hurtful to other people. So it depends on the situation and what is being said, you do not have to tolerate opinions you find flatly bigoted or personally disrespectful towards you or your partner, for example. If you have a lot on your plate right now and don’t want to deal with coming home to tension and rudeness, figure out a way to navigate that differently. There is no rule saying that you have to bring your partner with you for the holidays, so if it adds unnecessary stress to your life at the moment, do it on your own, or split the time with going to your partner’s family home and then yours by yourself.
