Hard to believe, but News divisions did not used to be rolled up into Entertainment at the networks, and News was in no way expected to drive profits, or even break even. Providing reliable, accurate news was part of the civic obligation networks took on in order to broadcast. It was that simple.

Home insurance in the US is so messed up. Among the weirdness: coverage for flood - a common hazard countrywide! - isn't part of standard policies, yet most folks don't know this. Those that do get it have to pay tons cuz the program is set up like a health insurance program for the sickest. 🤯

I still can’t believe that all NIH grants to my colleagues at Harvard and Harvard Medical School have been nullified. And that, as a nation, we’re somehow okay with this illegal, arbitrary, and petty act. Just think of the consequences: scientists, students, and patients will all suffer.
