Remember that Tom Barrack was prosecuted (but acquitted) for being the foreign agent of these folks.
This is corruption on a breathtaking level. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, an Abu Dhabi royal nicknamed the "spy sheikh", pumped $187mn into Trump family businesses. A WSJ team has the whole story, reported here for the first time. Remember: Jimmy Carter had to sell his peanut farm.

Just experienced the most intense tear gassing of my life by federal officers outside the ICE facility in Portland where marchers gathered. There was no fast exit as they indiscriminately threw loads of gas and flash bangs. Children were in the crowd screaming. @oregoncapitalchronicle.com

The EPA is proposing to roll back decades of progress on attacking water pollution — abandoning their responsibility to protect water quality and limiting the effectiveness of the Clean Water Act.

We cannot revert back to a time when pollution caused our rivers to catch fire.

This would be a totally natural response — and clear that ICE is trying to provoke further violence.
If that were me, the second I saw armed men jump out of the car, my instinct would be to hit the gas, try to duck and get the fuck out of there... and I'd probably either be killed or arrested for attempted homicide, all because I had no idea who they were or what they were doing.

Unmarked car, no lights or police insignia. Masked armed men leap out. Victim not in the act of committing any crime. This is not how a serious federal law enforcement agency acts in a free society.

How is this not supposed to be a “right wing paramilitary force loyal to the regime”?
This is just insane. It’s only a matter of time before DHS kills another innocent person here.

And for those asking why/how Roberts got involved, the order explains that the Chief Judge of the D.C. Circuit asked the Chief Justice to transfer the complaint to another circuit because it relates to ongoing litigation *in* the D.C. Circuit.

We finally know what happened to DOJ's (frivolous) misconduct complaint against Chief Judge Boasberg:

It was transferred by Chief Justice Roberts from the D.C. Circuit to Sixth Circuit Chief Judge Jeff Sutton, and Sutton dismissed it in a ... direct ... memorandum and order just two weeks later:

It is going to take years---years!---to rebuild the United States Department of Justice after Trump is gone from office. A jewel of the justice system has been emptied out of institutional knowledge and wisdom.
This rules so hard. In law school I remember people who wanted to be federal prosecutors spending three years doing everything they could to be maybe, possibly be competitive for an AUSA job someday. Now you just need to hop on X the everything app and DM a guy named Chad.

A manual for ICE's immigrant-targeting computer system, Palantir ELITE, was leaked today.

Let's look at it, then step back to evaluate how far we've come along a dangerous road and where that road might take us. 🧵
Here is the User Guide for ELITE, the Tool Palantir Made for ICE
404 Media is publishing a version of the user guide for ELITE, which lets ICE bring up dossiers on individual people and provides a “confidence score” of their address.
