I don't fuck with Pākehā dominant spaces much these days, but somehow it still surprises me when expressing experiences of race-based inequality is questioned, as if it is in fact an internalised experience, not an actual reality. This dominant race gaslighting is EXACTLY the reason why.

Doing a bit of a karanga because my we‘re discussing way Maaori might greet people and the cat hears me calling ‘Haere Mai!’ and comes sprinting.

Today is probably the one day in my life that I will ever be glad to hear that a taane maaori has received a prison sentence and the Prime Minister has to ruin that by reminding me of his white supremacist glee at increasing numbers of people in prison.

We cannot police people driving with benzos in their system for exactly the same reason that Big Norm had reservations about tasking Police with dealing with traffic crime at all.

Middle class people cannot be allowed to experience policing which they perceive as unfair or unjust

What gig economy? It’s just uber Delivereasy and doordash. Uber not paying tax and having Infinite resources to fight legal battles to protect their revenue making it impossible for real competition to have a chance. That’s not a gig economy.

You know, if I posted comments like these on a man’s phd celebration post there’s a not unreasonable chance he would track me down and murder me, and a reasonable chance that if he that he would get a reduced sentence.

We talking about shopping small? I am small. I also donate a portion of my art product sales to conservation efforts, so my best to reduce waste and produce locally, and make good art that people seem to like 💜💜💜
I never do sales, but I'm doing a big Christmas sale this year! Shop #kikorangi local, support an artist, and give unique gifts that always hit with their recipient!

Get in and snag bundle deals, marked down tees, and restocked items that were previously sold out: pepperraccoon.com/collections/...

I do think it’s a nice illustration of where we are as a country when the centrist party is like ‘oh yea we have to fundamentally and revolutionarily change how our economy functions to have boring ass outcomes.

Running on a flat tax and a land tax in a country where almost everyone is going to be disadvantaged by at least one of those two things is a choice.

What to wear if you don’t want a Lycra to hit you with their bike.
This is brilliant.

You gotta read the whole thread
I witnessed a scene that shook me to my core today. I need to share it in its full, gruesome detail.

I went to a cafe for lunch, and as I was queuing to pay for the meal the woman in front of me was told hers came to $21. She handed over a $50 note, then looked in her purse for a $1 coin.

Had wondered why I suddenly got some weird victim blamey comments on my Reddit post about Ms Z last night after so many wonderful comments.

HDPA makes me want to believe that hell exists.
It bears remembering that this woman, according to the IPCA report, sent at least 36 emails to media outlets, presumaby including NZME, as well as the PM, Police Minister, and police command in Dec 2023 & Jan 2024, and they did fuck-all about it too

Perspective with Heather du Plessis-Allan: The woman in the Jevon McSkimming saga wasn't innocent here
So it turns out the woman with whom Jevon McSkimming had an affair, whose warnings police ignored and who police charged instead of investigating McSkimmin

I don’t think you have to have any kind of experience like this to understand… Imagine you get off a plane in a foreign city where nobody speaks your language. It’s late at night and you loose your bag with your phone/wallet. You have to wait until morning to sort it. Where do you go to wait?
I remember when I slept rough in Auckland briefly as a young person having a wee bit of a menty b. I was a bush kid so my first thought was to go sleep in one of the forested areas around Auckland but it was pretty quickly clear that this would be so dangerous, so then I considered the suburbs…

The Greens will repeal the Regulatory Standards Bill.

But ACT won't give up.

They will spend millions into fooling voters that free market capitalism is the only future left for New Zealand.

However, you can help stop ACT from getting even more power.

Annoying concussion symptom is that song lyrics keep popping into my head and I can’t remember where they’re from and I keep being deeply disappointed when I finally work out that it’s Kanye. Apparently this is Yeezy season and apparently it dire.

I despise the way that brands will disrespect the aesthetic of a streetscape by prioritising their own disgusting aesthetic. I find that so much more hateful than graffiti tends to be.
