I don't fuck with Pākehā dominant spaces much these days, but somehow it still surprises me when expressing experiences of race-based inequality is questioned, as if it is in fact an internalised experience, not an actual reality. This dominant race gaslighting is EXACTLY the reason why.

Today is probably the one day in my life that I will ever be glad to hear that a taane maaori has received a prison sentence and the Prime Minister has to ruin that by reminding me of his white supremacist glee at increasing numbers of people in prison.

We cannot police people driving with benzos in their system for exactly the same reason that Big Norm had reservations about tasking Police with dealing with traffic crime at all.

I do think it’s a nice illustration of where we are as a country when the centrist party is like ‘oh yea we have to fundamentally and revolutionarily change how our economy functions to have boring ass outcomes.

I don’t think you have to have any kind of experience like this to understand… Imagine you get off a plane in a foreign city where nobody speaks your language. It’s late at night and you loose your bag with your phone/wallet. You have to wait until morning to sort it. Where do you go to wait?
I remember when I slept rough in Auckland briefly as a young person having a wee bit of a menty b. I was a bush kid so my first thought was to go sleep in one of the forested areas around Auckland but it was pretty quickly clear that this would be so dangerous, so then I considered the suburbs…

I despise the way that brands will disrespect the aesthetic of a streetscape by prioritising their own disgusting aesthetic. I find that so much more hateful than graffiti tends to be.

Low key think that it should be our right to send abusive emails to police officers – but I’m a centrist I think it would be fair that they be provided with supervision and any assistance they need to deal with abusive emails they receive
